To commemorate the 65th anniversary of the establishment of China-Mongolia diplomatic ties and China-Mongolia Friendly Exchange Year 2014, the Chinese Ministry of Culture and the Mongolian Ministry of Culture, Sport and Tourism held a Mongolian Culture Week at the Capital Library of China on Dec 5.

The Chinese Cultural Minister Ding Wei, speaking at the event, said that neighborliness and friendship have always remained the mainstream of Sino-Mongolian relations. In August, Chinese President Xi Jinping paid a state visit to Mongolia. Both sides issued a joint statement on the construction of the comprehensive strategic partnership. It started a new chapter of China-Mongolia friendship and cultural exchanges. On the new starting point, the Chinese side hoped to build a bridge of friendship connecting the two peoples by holding Culture Week in each country.

The Mongolian cultural vice-minister said that China and Mongolia share a border and have unique cultures. During the long-term cultural exchanges, mutual understanding and friendship between the two peoples have been deepened. The Culture Week would promote the Chinese people’s understanding of Mongolian culture.

This event also includes a photography exhibition and a gala concert. The former is being held from Dec 6 to 14. It will present 100 photos, showcasing Mongolian natural scenery and historic heritage. The two-day gala concert is being held from Dec 8 to 9 at the Beijing Century Theatre.
