The Danish cultural season, themed “Little Fairytale, Big Future”, was officially launched at CAFA on Oct 24. Dong Wei, vice minister of culture of China and Friis Arne Peterson, Danish ambassador to China, attended the opening ceremony.

Marianne Jelved, Danish minister for culture, said that Andersen’s fairy tales are loved by both Chinese and Danish children. From today, cultural exchanges between China and Denmark will start a new chapter of the fairy tale. Art is a global language that can deeply connect us. Dong Wei, the vice minister of culture, said that he hoped this event will be a window for Chinese people to learn more about their Danish counterparts and promote a long-term cooperative relationship between both sides.

The cultural season will run from the autumn of 2014 to the spring of 2015. The activities will include visual arts, cultural relics, dancing, concerts, movies and literature. The exhibition will travel to many Chinese cities including Beijing, Xi’an, Shanghai and Hangzhou. This cultural season is the biggest event held in China since the establishment of China-Denmark diplomatic ties.
