The 3rd International Short Film Festival for College Students has concluded in Beijing. More than 150 short filmmakers from both home and abroad have attended the award ceremony at the Capital Normal University.

The film "Lushan" is the top winner of the night. The documentary tells a series of stories that happened in Lushan, Sichuan Province, when a 7.0 magnitude earthquake hit the area in 2013. "Hostage" scores the Best Director award, while the Best Cinematography award goes to a French film.

The winners were selected from more than 1,500 short films from ten countries, including the United States, France and South Korea. They were submitted in four different categories, namely public welfare, animation, feature and documentary.

The winning films and filmmakers will now be given the chance to take part in top film festivals in the world.

With a small budget, short films have become a popular and powerful form of expression among the younger generations in China. And the International Short Film Festival for College Students provides a platform for young amateur filmmakers to develop their skills.
