Brazil is continuing to mark China Culture Month. A Chinese musical comedy called "Nanxihaozi" has recently been performed. The musical is based on the traditional folk songs of Tujia ethnic minority.

The Tujia people originate from southwest China. The group, who still rely on agriculture to make a living, can trace their roots back over twelve centuries ago. The musical performed here showcases how deeply rooted their heritage is based in farming practises.

The music, costumes and acrobatics go down well with Brazilian audiences: "This show has really taught me a lot about China. I really liked the way it was presented. I actually feel closer to China!"

"This musical gave me a fresh insight into China. The ethnic show really reflected the depth of Chinese culture and enhanced my understanding of it."

The piece is part of a number of performances being staged across Brazil during China Culture Month. Hundreds of Chinese artists are involved in the event.

This show in particular will tour to some 13 Brazilian cities with 17 performances.
