Around 160-Chinese publishing companies and book suppliers are attending the ongoing Frankfurt Book Fair to showcase Chinese culture to readers all over the world.

Chinese novelist Jia Pingwa spoke to readers about his works.

"I've seen many foreign readers this time, and they came with my books for my signatures and talk with me. I think the influence of the Chinese literature is becoming stronger now. I thought the foreign readers or book markets knew little about China, but in recent years, I found that they knew much more about us."

Jia's famous novels include "Shaanxi Opera", "Deserted City", "Shang State" and "White Night". His works have been translated into several languages and issued in more than 20 countries.

A German reader expressed appreciation to Jia's novels.

"I began to read his works in the 1980s, and I think he writes good about the personalities and life of people in Xi'an City and Shaanxi Province. I love the novel 'Happy' so much."

The Frankfurt Book Fair, one of the world's largest and oldest publishing industry events, has attracted more than 7,300 exhibitors from more than 100 countries.
