With mid-autumn festival just 10 days away, Singapore’s Chinatown was a flurry of activity on Sep 8 - the fourth day of the eighth lunar month. On Saturday evening, president Tony Tan Keng Yam officiated the light-up ceremony in Chinatown.
The New Bridge Road and Eu Tong Sen Street were accesorized with over 20-thousand multicoloured lanterns, creating a festive spirit not dissimilar to lunar New Year. This year’s Mid-Autumn Festival falls on September 19th, the 15th day of the eighth month on the lunar calender.

The event tipped off with a spectacular display of fireworks, but visitors can expect an array of other celebration events including a mass lantern walk, street bazaars, carnivals and stage shows until the mid-autumn festival.
