Besides the huge presence of Chinese dance, the festival also features troupes from Russia, Spain and other countries. They’re here to present classic works such as "Sleeping Beauty" and "The Nutcracker".

The diversity at the festival also extends to its attendees.

Inaugurated in 2008, the biennial festival is jointly organized by the Ministry of Culture and the government of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. This year’s event, which runs through August 5th, features more than 60 performances.
