Mohe County of Heilongjiang Province has set the Summer Solstice as the Tourist Festival since 1989. The festival was mainly held in Xinlinji Town and Arctic Village. Every year during the Summer Solstice period, thousands of people would come here to celebrate the festival.

Mohe is a place with the highest latitude in China. Due to its high latitude, the phenomenon of polar day happens in its summers. Therefore, it is called "the sleepless town of China" and "the aurora town". Bright nights usually last 9 days around the Summer Solstice, which is between June 15th and 25th . This period is the best season for viewing the aurora. Tourists can also enjoy themselves at the bonfire party held during the evenings of the Summer Solstice as well as in the Greater Khingan Mountains.
