Heng xi tang chun xiao is a poem written by Yu Siliang, a poet of the Southern Song Dynasty (1127-1279). There are four sentences in the poem: “Planting a handful of rice seedlings in the field, and they soon become fresh green. It seems that farmers’ hands have colorized them into green. It is drizzling. The vernal wind has made the boundless rice field green. When egrets come, watching the boundless green field, they can not find a place to stay.” This poem vividly describes the beautiful scene of Southern China during Grain in Ear, when the wheat has been reaped, the planting of rice has almost been done and most of the rice fields have turned green.
