Be Alert to Air-conditioning Sickness  
 

Air-conditioning sickness refers to any illnesses that arise due to the inappropriate use of air-conditioners.

A common reason for this sickness is that when we walk in or out of an air-conditioned room, our bodies are forced to adapt to a totally different temperature in a short time. At this time, the nerves, sweat glands, capillary vessels, intestines and stomach will all function irregularly, therefore a variety of disorders will appear. So, when enjoying the coolness that air-conditioners bring to us, be alert to air-conditioning sickness. Then what can we do to prevent ourselves from it?

I. The dust on the filter must be firstly cleaned and sterilized thoroughly before the air-conditioner is used.

II. Open the windows for at least fifteen minutes when first turning on the air-conditioner.

III. Do not use the air-conditioner for too long, and do not smoke in an enclosed room.

IV. The disparity between the indoor temperature and outdoor temperature should not be higher than 10 degrees centigrade.

V. Do not sit directly under the air outlet, because the wind there is not only the strongest, but the dirtiest.

VI. If we work in an air-conditioned room for a long time, it’s best for us to move around and do some stretches from time to time to quicken the blood. Also, a coat or a cardigan should be on hand allowing us to drape it around ourselves should the temperature get too cold.

VII. The water in circulation needs to be changed regularly and frequently as legionella, dust, and mite tests are required to be carried out on a regular basis.
