Getting Busy with Planting

There is a saying which goes, “getting busy with planting in Grain in Ear period”. In Chinese, Grain in Ear is “Mangzhong”. “Mang” refers to crops such as barley and wheat that are becoming ripe. “Zhong” means seeds and rudely implies that the busiest season of planting crops such as millet. Because it is hot and the typical summer weather has come, Grain in Ear is considered the cut-off point for crops. The survival rate of crops becomes lower and lower after Grain in Ear. That’s why people are getting very busy with planting in Grain in Ear.
