The walnut has plenty of protein, fat, minerals and vitamins. The fat contains much linoleic acid, which has high nutritional value. In addition, walnut contains abundant vitamin B and E, which can help prevent one’s cells from aging, and is good for strengthening the memory and deferring senility. The walnut can also reduce the absorption of cholesterin in the intestinal tract.

Traditional Chinese medical science teaches that walnuts are an important accessory of Chinese patent drug because of their medical uses, such as tonifying the kidneys to arrest spontaneous emission, moistening the lungs to arrest coughing, guiding the qi downward and enriching the blood. It can also ease people’s fatigue and stress. However, it cannot be eaten too much in one serving, because of the abundant fat it contains. What’s more, the external brown pellicle of the walnut should not be peeled off, because it contains a portion of nutrition.
