Imperial calligraphy tools exhibition opens in Shenyang

The Shenyang Palace Museum will host an exhibition of scholarly tools, showcasing the features of the emperors’ life during the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) . The exhibition opened on Wednesday in Shenyang city, Liaoning province.

113 calligraphy tools will be displayed, including brushes, ink, rice paper and ink stones. The four tools are referred to as the four treasures of the study in the Chinese calligraphy tradition. Besides the four jewels, brush hangers, brush pots, brush-rinsing pots, paper knives and other treasures used in the study will be presented.

All of these treasures are made by imperial craftsmen. The exhibition will run till the end of December.
