The 7th Beijing Fringe Festival opens

On the evening of Sept 2, 2014, the 7th Beijing Fringe Festival opened in the Multi-functional Theatre of the National Centre for the Performing Arts.

It was co-hosted by the National Theatre Company of China, Beijing Theatre Association and Beijing Municipal Committee of the Communist Youth League, and will run through Sept 28. Nearly 100 performances of 50 plays from 12 countries will be performed in 10 theatres and art spaces.

Since it was first held in 2008, the Beijing Fringe Festival has become the largest and most influential international drama festival in Asia.

According to Meng Jinghui, art director of the Beijing Fringe Festival, this year’s festival will continue the concept of previous years and combine the elements of contemporariness, artistry and thinking in the international performance platform.
