China-Malaysia Chorus Concert was held lately at the Philharmonie Hall of Petronas Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur, to mark the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Malaysia.

Liow Tiong Lai, President of Malaysian Chinese Association (MCA), said in his opening address that this concert has its special significance for the celebration of the day.

He added that Prime Minister Najib’s recent visit to China was a successful one, achieving rich fruits, deepening the friendship of the two peoples, and ushering a new phase in bilateral relations.

He wished that more cultural and art exchange activities could be conducted between the two countries in the future. The concert, the largest of its kind in Malaysia’s history, was performed by over 300 singers from both countries, including those from the choruses of Malaysia University, Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman and China’s Xiamen University.

Famous folk songs of both countries were sung, earning a standing ovation from the audience.
