On July 8, 2014, it was announced at a press conference for the 17th Beijing International Art Exposition that their upcoming event will be held at the new Beijing Agricultural Museum from October 6-9. This year’s event will include sections of Chinese painting and calligraphy, carving techniques, foreign masterpieces and national art. The event will attract over 150 art institutes.

The exposition, hosted by the Committee of Education, Science, Culture, Health and Sports of CPPCC, Chinese Artists Association, Chinese Calligraphers Association, Chinese Folk Artists Association, China Arts & Crafts Association and Huaxing Economic Advisory Service Center is based on the theme “Carrying forward Chinese culture and promoting international communication.” It has improved significantly both in art property and specifications when compared with previous attempts.

In the section of Chinese painting and calligraphy, the exposition plans to work together with Poly International Auction to introduce the Inhibition of Works by Chinese Modern Painters and Calligraphers. Many famous artists such as Liu Dawei and Feng Yuan will be on the list. In the section of carving techniques, a jade carving of the famous painting “Riverside Scene at Qingming Festival” will also be introduced. The work is carved out of a whole piece of Hetian jade weighing up to 23.6 tons, along with a 15-ton rosewood base, altogether accomplished in seven years.

Meanwhile, the exposition will also invite China’s famous auction companies, banks, insurance companies and collectors to participate in the forum sessions with academic and market values, as well as a series of activities after the event has concluded.
