Xi'an, known as Chang'an before the Ming Dynasty, is the capital and a sub-provincial city of northeast China's Shaanxi province. As one of the oldest cities in China, Xi'an has a history of more than 3,100 years.

Xi'an, together with Athens, Rome, and Cairo, are regarded as the world's four ancient capitals. The city is an important birthplace of Chinese civilization and the Chinese nation, and the starting point of the Silk Road.
