White Day, March 14, as a continuation of Valentine’s Day, is mainly popular in Japan, South Korea and Taipei. Normally, women give gifts to men on Valentine's Day, while on White Day, men return the favor and give gifts to women from whom they received gifts, or to women with whom they are romantically interested in.
So what are the common gifts associated with this romantic day? Although White Day is not as big as Valentine's Day, many people still give a variety of gifts. For White Day, cookies, candy or white chocolate are common, instead of just regular chocolate. There is a superstition among some young people that if someone gives you cookies, that means "I love you;" candies mean "I like you," and white chocolate means "Let's be friends." Other gifts usually along with food include jewelry, handbags, shoes, wallets, scarves, handkerchiefs and stuffed animals. And some men, just as in America, give lingerie to their girlfriends.
