Dan Zeng, Deputy Director of China Federation of Literacy & Art Circles, said, "Yang Liping asked me to watch the show which she said was the last show before the troupe broke up. And there was only 80 thousand yuan in her bank account, not even enough to cover the salary of the dancers."
But it was a different story after Dan Zeng saw the show and was very impressed. Yang received financial help from the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, and was also loaned a set of lights worth 1 million yuan. After this, there was no stopping them and the performances has been staged some 4000 times in China to date, along with dozens of overseas performances.

Dynamic Yunnan is considered as a pioneering force in the promotion of ethnic culture using song, dance and drama. Despite providing visual splendour, Yang Liping has other things in mind.
"I would like to send comfort to people’s souls while passing on culture to them. It’s like a culture root to let people to get a sense of belonging." Yang said.
A year ago, Yang announced she would retire from the stage after the finale of her latest piece "Peacock". Despite this, the 55 year old Yang says she will never give up dancing, if not on stage then always in her mind.
