The Happy Chinese New Year series and the competition were sponsored by the Ministry of Culture and run by CAFA.
Xie Jinying, director of the Bureau for External Cultural Relations of the Ministry of Culture, said that the 5-year-old "Happy Chinese New Year" event had already become an established brand for promoting cultural exchanges. For the first time, CAFA, China’s most prestigious and renowned art academy, was involved in all segments of the "Fantastic Art China New York Series Events" from planning and design to marketing and promotion.
"Fantastic Art China" will debut in the Big Apple as the subsidiary brand of "Happy Chinese New Year" on Feb. 17 – which coincides with Chinese New Year’s Eve. With the theme, "Happy Chinese New Year", many art shows will be unveiled to the public, such as light shows, public arts shows and bonfire carnivals at venues such as Lincoln Center and the landmark Empire State Building. In addition, many Chinese artists will combine Chinese traditional and modern culture to showcase a fresh Spring Festival that organizers hope sets off a new craze for Chinese culture.
