
Prof. Wu Jieping, born in January 1917, is a native of Changzhou, Jiangsu Province. He graduated from Peking Union Medical College. Later, he studied at Chicago University US in 1947-1948.
Wu Jieping is a world famous medical doctor, an educator, as well as a social activist. He served as associate professor and professor at Beijing Medical Institute from 1948-1960, and as vice-president, president and professor of Beijing No.2 Medical Institute from 1960-1970.
He is the honorary Chairman of the Jiusan Society, academician of the China Academy of Sciences and the China Academy of Engineering, academician of the Third World Academy, honorary academician of the American Physician Academy, academician of the Belgium Royal Medical Science Academy, honorary academician of the Edinburgh Royal Surgeons Academy, academician of the Hong Kong Royal Surgeons Academy, founding dean of the Medical College attached to Tsinghua University, honorary president of the Chinese Medical Association, honorary President of the China Association for Science and Technology, honorary president of the China Medical Science Academy, honorary president of the Peking Union Medical College, honorary president of the Capital Medical University, honorary dean of the Medical College attached to the Nanjing University and honorary positions at more than 20 other well-known universities, colleges and institutes all over the world.
As one of the founders of the Chinese urinary surgery science, Prof. Wu Jieping has made remarkable contributions to the development of the Chinese urinary surgery and medical science. In 1995, the American Academy of Urinary Surgery elected him the only honorary foreign fellow.
