The annual sessions of the National People's Congress (NPC) and the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) were convened in early March of 2009 in Beijing. Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao delivered the government work report on March 5, according to which, great efforts should be taken to develop cultural undertakings and promote cultural prosperity. The Ministry of Culture also released its 2009 work plan, highlighting things like culture industry development, cultural exchange and intangible cultural heritage protection.
