A recent press conference held in Beijing for the Ten Masterpieces of French Painting, an exhibit featuring 10 paintings on loan from five French museums, including Hyacinthe Rigaud's most famous work, Louis XIV, from the Palace of Versailles, Pierre-Auguste Renoir's Dance at Le Moulin de la Galette from the Musee d’Orsay, and Pablo Picasso's Matador from the Musee Picasso Paris. The event marks just one program from the Sino-French celebrations, and the paintings will be displayed at the National Museum of China through June 15.
A series of cultural programs that aims to boost Sino-French cultural exchanges will be presented in both countries during the year as the two countires ushered in their 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2014. An art exhibit from Chinese Xu Beihong and his French mentors, and a photography exhibit about China through the eyes of the French, are part of the package.
As an integral part of the celebration gala, the Festival Croisements which offers roughly 70 creative programs such as visual art, new media, dance, music, drama, children’s theater, circus performance, literature and film will also be held from April through July all over China.
