The Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Finance plan to complete a survey on time-honored rural communities around the nation, and devise preservation programs accordingly, ensuring both the maintenance of their cultural heritage and the amelioration of residents’ living standards.

The three ministries will compile a list of “traditional villages” at provincial and city/county levels, and formulate medium- and long-term plans to protect and develop them, with specific goals, priorities, and detailed measures. A website will also be established to educate the public and facilitate exchanges in this regard.
