Paining fingernails is a custom for Double Seven Festival in the southwest part of China, including many counties in Sichuan province, as well as Guizhou province and Guangdong province.

In many places, young girls like to wash their hair with diluted tree pulp. It is said that in doing so, they can stay young and beautiful, and unmarried women will soon find their ideal husband. Painting their fingernails with flowers and grass is also a holiday tradition for many women and children. It also has something to do with fertility.
