2011 Shanghai Art Fair: Art is Wealth

French Civilization Exhibition, run by 10 galleries from France, and the South Korean Art Fad Exhibition, by six South Korean galleries, added beauty to each other in the 2011 Shanghai Art Fair.

The French team presented not only the works of renowned artists like Dali and Aman, but also new art styles like crystal sculpture. The South Korean team exhibited works of art which combined an elegant, concise style and a thought of life meaning.

Many customers were obsessed by small and medium sculptures from French galleries and small-sized oil paintings from South Korean galleries.

Museum of Chinese Pottery and Porcelain

As the first pavilion exclusively set for ceramics in large-scale international art fairs, Museum of Chinese Pottery and Porcelain, established in 2008, has grown mature gradually over the past three years of exploration.

Besides three imperishable brands of Chinese ceramics — Jingdezhen kiln, Longquan Kiln and Jun Kiln -- Liu Mingwu gallery from Taiwan also participated in the 2011 Shanghai Art Fair and put on display “jewel pottery painting” created by Liu Mingwu.

Mr. Liu burned clay into pottery boards which could be used as canvas and be decorated with a kind of glaze as shiny as jewels, thus creating a new style of ceramics — “jewel pottery painting”. Liu blended the composition and artistic conception of Oriental paintings with the skills of Western oil paintings, playing an increasingly important role in the Taiwan painting circle. Exhibitions of his paintings held in mainland China have also won large numbers of favorable comments.

Emerging Artists Exhibition

Emerging Artists Exhibition has been running for six successive years. Hosted jointly by the sponsor and Shanghai Artists Association, the exhibition was aimed to popularize and introduce emerging artists in Shanghai. After a series of steps, 29 Shanghai artists under the age of 45 were selected.
