On Aug. 5, 2013, Special Envoy of President Xi Jinping and Minister of Culture Cai Wu met with President Hasan Rowhani of Iran in Teheran.

During the meeting, Cai Wu conveyed President Xi Jinping's congratulations for Rowhani taking office as President. He expressed that China is willing to maintain exchanges with Iran at various levels, to enhance political mutual trust and to carry out mutually beneficial cooperation. It is believed that with the joint efforts of both sides, the tree of China-Iran friendship will flourish and better benefit both peoples.

Rowhani thanked President Xi Jinping for sending a special envoy to the inauguration ceremony. He stressed that Iran places importance on developing relations with China. Iran is willing to continue to deepen bilateral cooperation and to open up a new chapter in Iran-China friendly relations.

On Aug. 4, Special Envoy Cai Wu attended the inauguration ceremony of President Hasan Rowhani in Iran's Islamic Consultative Assembly Hall.
