Thai version of Her City is released

Thailand’s Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn released her latest translation of a Chinese work in Bangkok on March 28.

The book is based on the novel Her City by Chi Li, a female writer from central China’s Hubei province. Sirindhorn first knew Chi Li on a plane where she read an introduction to the female writer in a newspaper. She later read the novel Her City and found it very interesting, so she translated it and hoped to introduce it to the people of Thailand.

Her City depicts the life of three women with different ages, background and character who live in Wuhan. In the Thai version, modern photos of Wuhan appear in the book, which were taken by Sirindhorn during her visit to the city.

According to the Thai publishing house, they also plan to suggest to the Thai Ministry of Education to approve it as a textbook for those studying Chinese in Thailand.

Highlight: The book helps Thai people to learn more about China’s history and the real lives of people in the country of “Loong” from the perspective of Thai. Princess Sirindhorn, who has made important contributions to boosting amity and cultural exchanges between China and Thailand.
