Photo Beijing 2013, World in Focus

Co-hosted by China’s Ministry of Culture and Beijing Municipal People’s Government, Photo Beijing 2013, the inaugural Beijing International Photography Week, kicked off at the China Millennium Monument on October 24. Under the theme of “Photography -- World in Focus”, this biennial event provided various discussions, lectures, exhibitions for both professional and amateur photographers and curators from China and abroad.

The photography week also held exhibitions displaying works of young, lesser-known photographers and members of the public who take photos with their smart phones.

The event provided an important platform to promote cooperation between the Chinese and international photography industries, offering photographers, curators and artists a platform of communication and cooperation.

Highlight: Apart from the main exhibition, a series of lectures, forums and themed activities were also held at the main venue, as well as at the 798 Art Zone, Caochangdi Art Zone, Wangfujing Pedestrian Street and Cable 8 Creative Culture Zone, providing a chance for amateur photographers to learn and communicate with other photographers.
