Milan design week gets a “Taste of China”

Design has closely connected Beijing and Milan for many years. Following the success of Beijing Design Week the participation of Salone del Mobile 2012, the establishment of a sister program with Milan Design Week which launched on that occasion, BJDW returned to Milan in 2013 with an unprecedented program.

During the event, which ran from April 9 - 14, Chinese designer groups successfully drew attention to two exhibitions focused on eating and drinking.

“A TASTE OF CHINA - DESIGN AROUND THE TABLE.” was promoted with the special collaboration of the cultural association ‘Show the World’ and “SLOW SEATING, TEA DRINKING” employed the concept of the “Chinese tea ceremony” to show how the spirit of slow seating can interact with contemporary Chinese lifestyle and thinking.

Stylish furniture and home ware designs were set in several different scenes. Simple and culturally relevant, they deliver a visual flavor like that of a tea ceremony, a friend’s house or a high-end Chinese restaurant, filled with oriental elegance.

Highlight: Established a partnership with a world famous design even and combined the concept of design to daily life while making exhibitions more involving by using space for different scenes.
