“New Shanghai Style” Exhibition Delights Berlin

The refreshing new style of Chinese painting draws the visitors’ attention.

Many Taiwan compatriots living in Germany also came to the exhibition. Zhan Weien liked “The Blossoming” by Wang Ying and “The Orchard” by Shan Zheng, both artists from Shanghai. The bright orange coloring of the former and the dynamic and static combination of the latter impressed her greatly.

Horst Caesar, who has visited Shanghai several times, highly praised “The Refined Gathering in Autumn”, painted by Ding Xiaofang. Pointing to the characters with ancient costumes in the painting, he said that all the characters seem typical, ancient, and Chinese, but the feeling the whole painting gives is different from the pure traditional Chinese painting, and thus it is creative.

The exhibition ran until June 10, 2012, in the China Cultural Center in Berlin.
