Many people think that when one catches a cold, the spa could be helpful. This expert advises that if the symptoms are runny nose, loss of appetite and abdominal distension, the spa does help. However, if one is easily tired and has asthma, he belongs to the people with qi deficiency, and is not strong enough for hot springs.

To take the spa after drinking is inappropriate and unnecessary. Because the hot water makes the heart beat more quickly, elevating one’s blood pressure can overload the heart. The heat of the water also stimulates the blood to concentrate on the skin surface, inhibits digestion and absorption and suppresses one’s appetite. It’s better not to go to the spa in the 30 minutes before a meal and one hour after it.
