To best portray and convey his ideas, Huang has added a few lines next to several of his works. "The former residence of Dante Alighieri" is one such example, on which he wrote, "The building -- preserved in its original look -- has undergone little change over so many years."

He also reveals his sense of humor by writing in one of his calligraphies, "When the world has grown up, I […] must have grown old."

"He's an interesting artist of great achievements," wrote Lyu Zhangshen, curator of the National Museum, in the foreword for the exhibition.

"From him, we can see the power of culture, the power of art as well as the strength of personality."
