For Chinese traveling abroad, Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand are still the most popular places, but there is a trend to expand to other Southeast Asian countries, such as Vietnam and Cambodia. Chinese are also enjoying more high quality products from their neighbors, with the romantic youth movieA Little Thing Called Lovecausing a remarkable bout of Thai fever, in 2012.

This is just part of the cultural effect of the ASEAN-China strategic partnership and, as commercial cooperation in the film and travel business increases, communication and exchanges between artists will surely follow.

This summer, seven young artists from Brunei, Laos, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam joined three Chinese in a visit to Beijing to get a tour of the capital and a look at Henan province, resulting in 50 paintings based on what they saw and experienced in their journey.

They used their canvases to depict the Great Wall, Forbidden City, 798 Art District, Longmen Grottoes, and ordinary scenes from daily life in a diverse, unique way and they gained a deeper understanding of the culture and some beautiful memories of the landscapes as they interacted and forged new friendships.
