SHANGHAI

Young artists' show

A new exhibition showcases representative artworks of more than 40 young artists from the Long Museum collection, covering paintings, sculptures and installations. It aims to present the creative works of artists born after 1970. Known as "post-1970s and post-1980s", these artists were raised at a time of Chinese reform and opening-up, and have been affected by the changes brought by globalization.

Ring in the New Year

Life Hub@Jinqiao, a large shopping complex in Shanghai's Pudong area, will greet the New Year with a live outdoor concert. The duet Man Power, and singer Jonathan Chang, both from Taiwan, will perform at Garden Square with Zhang Jia, a singer based in Shanghai, and Liang Yizhen, who rose to stardom on the TV talent show Asian Wave. The concert will end at midnight, when the artists will celebrate the start of 2014.

French connection

China Art Museum, Shanghai and Musee des Annees Trente de Boulogne-Billancourt, France are presenting the exhibition Turning Point—French Art of the 1930s: Masterpieces from Musee des Annees Trente de Boulogne-Billancourt at Floor 33-M at China Art Museum, Shanghai. The exhibition of four chapters gives viewers a tastes of the richness and variety of French art at the time modern art was flourishing in the first half of the 20th century. The chapter about art deco and Chinese-French artistic intersection reveals the relevance of modern French art to China and Shanghai.

Shenzhen

SantaCon festivities

Shenzhen will be one of the 321 cities in 44 countries taking part in SantaCon, a worldwide party for those who want an unforgettable Christmas. Participants are asked to pay 150 yuan ($25) per person to enter the event, which covers a Santa Claus outfit, gifts for children, a buffet and a cocktail at Coco Park's Vita club following the afternoon parade.
