The Story of the Chinese Abacus

Since ancient times, abaci have always been used to calculate money. Because of this, they are usually thought of as carrying associations of gathering money by the Chinese. People will often hear phrases such as “gold abacus” and “skilled calculator”, which are used to describe a shrewd person, who, with an abacus, kept calculating his or her increasing wealth. Chinese children usually had some amulets hung on their necks to avoid evil influences and attract good fortune in ancient times. In addition to scissors, hairpins, and mirrors, the abacus is also a good choice of mascot to symbolize riches and honor.
