The tiny picturesque town of Hua Gua Gu Cun is easy to miss, opposite the island-dotted seascape of Dongtou (an outskirt county in the city of Wenzhou, Zhejiang province). The population of the town is 785, according to Zhuang Kewu, a local resident. Many of the town's buildings aren't as old as one might assume, most having been constructed 60 or so years ago. But the town certainly epitomizes a quaint fishing town, with the rust-orange brick houses steeply stacked upon one another. The locals are friendly to boot, welcoming strangers with a smile, or even a cup of tea.
