US China Film and TV Industry Expo

The first US China Film and TV Industry Expo will kick off in Los Angeles on March 5, 2014. The two-day expo aims to bring better understanding among filmmakers, financiers, executives and technicians of both countries. According to CEO Bianca Chen, there will be about 250 exhibitors from both countries in the expo, during which a contest will be held to find potential young filmmakers. The expo will be held at the Los Angeles Convention Center. China's box office reached 17 billion yuan ($2.7 billion) in 2012, next only to the US. It is now the fastest-growing film market in the world.

Painter captures colors of Yunnan

Zhou Changxin, a pioneer of Chinese heavy-color oil painting, is holding a show featuring 56 pieces of his work themed on Yunnan in Beijing. All the works were created over the past decade in Yunnan. Zhou's Yunnan series features landscapes, flowers and figures. The highlights are three special paintings that Zhou painted with heavy-color porcelain. Dedicated to blending Chinese heavy oil painting with Western oil art, Zhou has been exploring using porcelain to paint on paper. The show is held at Colorful Yunnan, a flagship jade shop in Beijing and will run till the end of October.
