Wonderful Scenic Spots in Dunhuang Attract Numerous Tourists

Rang Pizi (a special food in West China) has long been one of the most popular dishes in Dunhuang City. Made from pea flour, it is seasoned with hot peppers, creating a spicy taste that is perfect for desert weather.

Other Dunhuang specialties: Saozi Noodle, stuffed bread, kebabs, sweet melons, grapes and Hami melons.

Entertainment

During the peak tourist season (from June to October), the Dunhuang Hotel arranges a show of songs and dances from 6 pm to 8 pm every evening, which is known as “the Summer of Dunhuang".

The show can be regarded as a complete reflection of the culture of Silk Road. You can learn something about the folk art of the Muslim, Tibetan, Uigur and Mongolian people in West China. It is worthwhile to note a dance in the show has drawn its materials from the frescoes of the Mogao Grottoes.

Shopping

The Shazhou Night Market is the biggest outdoor market in Dunhuang. The market is divided into various specialty areas. The road in front of the market is lined with over 100 stalls specializing in selling tea, crystal, jade, silk carpets, "glowing in the dark" stone cups and many other local products.
