1. Since 2012, CICA has carried out a program named "China Cultural Volunteers", sending out experts in the fields of calligraphy, fine art, theatre, music, dance and folk art as cultural volunteers to impart Chinese culture and artistic techniques overseas, according to the application and needs from foreign institutions, Chinese Diplomatic and Consular Missions and Chinese Cultural Centers. From July 15 to October 17 in 2019, invited by the Panama Diplomatic Mission and Panama Huaxing Art Troupe, a famous tenor from the China Opera and Ballet Theater, Wang He, went to Panama to offer an artistic training course. Until now, 26 people have been sent to 15 countries including Vietnam, Myanmar, Germany, France, Portugal, Malta, Slovakia, Hungary, Cape Verde, Mauritius, Ecuador, Peru, Panama, Dominica and Costa Rica, to carry out cultural volunteer activities. Every volunteer enabled local people to study and love Chinese culture with their profession and passion.
2. From 2013 to 2018, CICA had launched an International Exchange Project for Chinese Talents in Arts Creation and Arts Management, with a goal to introduce advanced international management experience, upgrade the professionalization of Chinese art and management professionals in cultural sectors, and build a platform for exchanges between Chinese and foreign cultural professionals. The program has carried out training in the performing arts, cultural exhibitions and handicraft design for professionals, working in collaboration with China Oriental Performing Arts Group Co Ltd, the National Art Museum of China, CIEA-BA Exhibition Co Ltd, China Cultural Media Group Limited, Capital Museum of China, China National Theatre for Children and the National Centre for the Performing Arts. The program invited experts to give lessons and hold case studies and forums for professionals. These experts included distinguished individuals within China and people from first-class international art institutions, such as the Royal Opera House in the UK, the global marketing and advertising agency AKA in the UK, the Berlin Opera Foundation in Germany, the New York Musical Theatre Commune, the Daegu Music Festival in South Korea, the Smithsonian Institution in the US, the Metropolitan Museum of Art of New York, the Guggenheim Museum, the Victoria and Albert Museum in the UK and the Museum of the Netherlands in Amsterdam. Up to now, the program has held 17 training courses, trained 1,589 people and received extensive attention and praise in the sector. This program focused on the development needs of domestic culture industry, and followed development trend and results in the world. This program formulated a standard process and control its quality strictly: before holding each master course, thematic planning meetings were held; during the course, coordination meetings were held as well; and at the end of the course, a feedback questionnaire was given to each student, to obtain an objective evaluation of the course. All efforts helped to promote the international communication and cooperation in the field of domestic entertainment, culture and handicraft, acquire advanced management experience and improve the management of domestic cultural institutions.
3. From 2015 to 2019, CICA selected more than 20 professionals each year from domestic art institutions to visit overseas art institutions and conduct one- to three-month exchanges. These efforts, backed by funding and cooperation from the China National Arts Fund from 2015 to 2017, aimed to cultivate high-end composite art and management professionals and build a platform for exchanges and cooperation between Chinese and foreign cultural institutions. 526 people from 397 art institutions in 29 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions had signed up and applied to participate in the project. 102 people were selected to do an internship in 79 foreign art institutions in 25 countries. CICA has shared 170 exchange experiences with its domestic counterparts through its website and public WeChat account, and organized them as three books according to three categories: vision, performance and integration. Through the project, professionals sent abroad developed an international perspective and learned advanced management experience. Some even discovered valuable research materials lost overseas. At the same time, they made friends with their foreign counterparts, introduced Chinese culture to them and bridged a cooperative channel between Chinese art institutions and their foreign counterparts. Overall, they believed the benefits of the project have exceeded their expectations and the exchange results are still gradually emerging.
4. From January 19 to 23, CICA dispatched Luo Ning Trio to present 4 brilliant Chinese original jazz concerts in the activity named Happy Chinese New Year in Centre national d'art et de culture Georges-Pompidou, Selles-sur-Cher and Rosny-sous-Bois in France, embracing the Chinese New Year in 2019 with local French and overseas Chinese together. This is the first time that a Chinese jazz musician gave special Chinese concerts in Centre national d'art et de culture Georges-Pompidou in France. Mr. Li Shaoping, the Minister Counselor of Culture Section of Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the French Republic, made a speech before the concert, which stated that Luo Ning Trio was welcomed by a lot of young audiences in many countries where the performance was held and expressed the hope that French people can know more about modern Chinese arts from the concert as well.
5. From February 1 to 9, CICA and Cape Verde-China Friendship Association cooperated to conduct the seventh Happy Chinese New Year - Chinese Cultural Week in the capital city Praia on the island of Santiago and in the city of Mindelo on the island of São Vicente. During the event, the voluntary diagnosis and treatment was also held on Santo Antão island of Cape Verde with the cooperation of Chinese Medical Team in Cape Verde. It was the first time that the Chinese Cultural Week was held in the four cities of the three islands in Cape Verde, as most of the activities were preformed successfully by local art troupes trained by Chinese experts assigned by CICA. As an important communication platform for both sides, Chinese Cultural Week is one of the indispensable activities in Cape Verde every year. People in Cape Verde have a rising expectation on Chinese Cultural Week, and are interested in knowing more about China.
