1. On February 8, Chinese food took center stage at the Happy Chinese New Year - Walking Reunion Dinner on Chinese Lunar New Year's Eve, held in downtown Los Angeles. Shi Jiandong, Assistant Secretary-General of CICA, Zhuang Zhizhe, Chinese Vice Consul General in Los Angeles, and other representatives of China and the US gathered to watch cooking demonstrations by China's time-honored brands, such as Quanjude Roast Duck Restaurant and Dong Lai Shun Restaurant, and enjoyed food together. 

2. Happy Chinese New Year - Charming Beijing Tianjin Hebei was held at Saban Theatre in Beverly Hills in Los Angeles on February 10. The event was sponsored by CICA, Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei Associations for Foreign Cultural Exchange, and the Beverly Hills City Conference and Tourism Bureau. Nearly 2,000 people were in attendance, watching acrobatics, magic, singing and dancing performances, and intangible cultural heritage exhibitions by artists from Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei. Zhang Ping, Chinese Consul General in Los Angeles, said the display of Chinese culture and art with regional characteristics from Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei artists would promote Sino-US cultural exchanges and deepen mutual understanding and friendship between people of the two countries. The mayor of Beverly Hills said the celebration of Spring Festival not only brings joy to the people of Beverly Hills, but also provides a good opportunity to strengthen ties with China and cultural integration of all ethnic groups.

3. Charming Beijing and Tianjin, a Chinese New Year gala co-organized by CICA and related departments in Beijing and Tianjin, was on stage at the Chinatown Hall in San José, the capital of Costa Rica, on February 13. The gala was part of a series of events under the project Happy Chinese New Year - Charming Beijing Tianjin Hebei by CICA. Over 500 guests were invited, including Chinese Ambassador to Costa Rica Tang Heng, members of the Costa Rican Legislative Assembly, local politicians and overseas Chinese.

4. Invited by the Cape Verde China Friendship Association and the organizing committee of the Atlantic Music Festival Expo, CICA organized a trip for a Chinese music group to attend the Expo and Kriol Jazz Festival, from April 13 to 22. The Atlantic Music Festival Expo, sponsored by the government of Cape Verde and co-organized by the World Music Expo and the Cape Verde Musicians Association, has an important role in Africa and the Pan-Atlantic region, considered the top music market across the Atlantic Ocean. It has been successfully held for five years running. The Chinese touring group was composed of Chinese bands Future Bicycle and Timers, as well as the directors of several Chinese musical companies. This was the first time a Chinese music group attended the expo. The Prime Minister of Cape Verde watched Chinese group's performance and spoke highly of it. The Chinese Ambassador to Cape Verde, Du Xiaocong met with the delegation and said that the Chinese band's performance helped to create a friendly environment and warm up the China-Africa Cooperation Forum to be held this year.

5. From May 4 to 9, CICA organized a Chinese delegation of 15 people from Opera School affiliated with the Shanghai Theater Academy to visit Portugal on the 30th anniversary of the Fundação Oriente.

6. From May 16 to 31, CICA organized a Chinese delegation of 26 people from Opera School affiliated with the Shanghai Theater Academy to visit Dominica and Argentina, and perform in the International Youth Music Festival in Iguazú, Argentina. Their presence sparked interest among the committee of the festival and local audiences. Although Dominica has not established diplomatic ties with China, the exchange performance promoted cultural communication. This event was part of CICA's Oriental Express project.

7. From June 8 to 14, CICA held Japan's Yanjing Calligraphy Exhibition in Hangzhou, with the goal of commemorating the 40th anniversary of signing the Treaty of Peace and Friendship between China and Japan. 330 exhibits were shown on a variety of subjects, many of which were Chinese characters from ancient poems. This exhibition showed the artistic attainments of contemporary Japanese calligraphy, especially kana calligraphy, from different aspects, letting Chinese counterparts appreciate the diversified beauty of calligraphy and the long history of cultural exchanges between China and Japan.

8. From June 25 to 29, CICA held 2018 Master Class on Performing Arts and Marketing with China Arts and Entertainment Group Ltd, inviting 10 senior experts from the US, South Korea, China's mainland and Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, to deliver 7 speeches and 3 forums. 320 people from 242 cultural institutions in 31 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions participated.

9. From July 15 to 16, CICA held the Oriental Culture Research Plan - Seminar on the Integration and Innovation of Silk Road Music, with the Central Conservatory of Music, in Beijing, inviting 22 experts from the US, Russia, Poland, Iran, Turkey, Ukraine, Finland, Japan and China. More than 80 people attended the seminar.

10. From August 11 to 24, at the invitation of CICA, the Cape Verde China Friendship Association sent 3 dance artists from Cape Verde to visit China, conducting artistic exchanges with dancers from the China Oriental Performing Arts Group Co Ltd.

11. From September 25 to 28, CICA held the 5th Gallery Management Seminar of the International Exchange Project for Chinese Talents of Arts Creation and Arts Management, with the National Art Museum of China, in Beijing, inviting experts and industry management personnel from the UK, the Netherlands, Germany, France and China to carry out a series of communications, including lectures, workshops and case analysis.

12. On November 20, a demonstration of Chinese dance teaching was performed in the auditorium of the National University of Costa Rica. These dances were taught by Liu Di, who is a cultural volunteer sent by CICA and a national first-class dancer from the China Oriental Performing Arts Group Co Ltd. Chinese Ambassador to Costa Rica Tang Heng, the Vice President of the National University of Costa Rica, Chairman of the China-Costa Rica Culture and Education Center, Song Xiaoning, and more than 100 local dance lovers and overseas Chinese watched the performance. Tang thanked Liu for her dedicated work, and acknowledged the increasing cultural exchanges and their positive influence since the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Costa Rica 11 years ago. He also said that China would continue strengthening cultural communications with Costa Rica, to promote the friendship between people of the two countries.

13. From November 22 in 2018 to January 14 in 2019, CICA held Contemporary Chinese Art Exhibition with Fundação Oriente at the Oriental Museum in Lisbon, Portugal. 29 pieces (sets) of paintings, equipment and photography from 24 young Chinese modern artists were on display, while an academic seminar and artists workshop were also held during the opening ceremony.
