Zhu Sha, a national first-class actor of the China Broadcasting Art Troup, was sent to Guayaquil, Ecuador in South America from July 13 to September 1, 2012 as the first volunteer jointly dispatched by the China International Culture Association and the China Literature and Art Foundation.
With the help of the local Chinese consulate and overseas Chinese leaders, she opened a Chinese children's music class, and also held a Chinese music appreciation class at the University of Guayaquil. During her stay in Ecuador, Zhu Sha established and trained the first Chinese choir in South America, which participated in a performance of the World Chinese Congress. The establishment of the choir not only enhanced the cultural confidence of overseas Chinese, but also promoted Chinese culture in South America.
Talking about her volunteer work, Zhu said it was an experience that she had never had in her life. She cherished the opportunity very much. Volunteering is a splendid career that requires ideals to support, as well as hard work and self-control. “With skills and kindness, we can make the world a better place. This is how I understand volunteering!” she said.
