China-ASEAN Youth Folk Song Festival held in Guangxi

The China-ASEAN Youth Folk Song Festival was held in Nanning, South China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, on April 16. The festival was hosted by the Department of Culture and Tourism of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and organized by the China-ASEAN Youth Culture and Art Center.

The festival's performances were divided into four parts: "First Cry in the Mountains", "Tide on the Water", "Dream of Home and Country" and "New Sound in All Directions", with the respective conceptions of "beginning", "living", "dream" and "new". It symbolized the exuberant vitality and creativity of young people, who live and grow endlessly in the world of folk songs and pursue their dreams bravely.

The first part presented many classic Guangxi folk songs and new folk songs, which depict the happy lives of the Zhuang people.

The second part brought a number of popular songs, combined with dance and other elements, to give the audience one cool performance after another, showing the vitality of youth.

In the third part, the children sang songs to express their love for the Communist Party of China and the country. The performance of "Young China" combined martial arts, Chinese drums and other Chinese elements of the performance lit up the atmosphere. Ten Farewell to the Red Army, My Motherland and I and the special tribute song, Sing a Folk Song to the Party by the Shanshui Children's Choir showed deep friendship to the Party, eulogizing the Party with the deepest emotions and offering a tribute to the centenary of the Party.

The fourth part was the ASEAN style performance, presented with a wonderful audio and visual feast for the audience.

On the same day, the 2021 China-ASEAN Youth Singing Competition themed "Sound of Landscape--Appointment of Magnificent Guangxi" was officially launched. This competition aimed to look for inheritors of folk songs and create a new platform for folk songs to be sung and displayed by means of contest selection.
