China-ASEAN Youth Innovation Contest held in Chongqing

China-ASEAN Youth Innovation Contest was launched in Chongqing on Aug 16, responding to Premier Li Keqiang’s request at the 20th ASEAN-China summit.

Around 500 teenagers from more than 50 countries and regions, such as Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippine, Vietnam, Singapore, Thailand, Laos and China, jointly competed for the innovation prize.

Xia Mingjiu, Party member of China’s Ministry of Science and Technology, urged the contestants to explore truth in the process. He said “Chinese government has always put emphasis on technology innovation and insisted on cooperation with other countries. President Xi stressed on making the Belt and Road Initiative an innovative one in 2017.”

Chen Gang, Party member of the China Association for Science and Technology; Li Dianxun, deputy mayor of Chongqing municipal people’s government; Crescente R. Relacion, consul general of Philippines in Chongqing; and Steven Pang Chee Wee, consul general of Singapore in Chengdu; also attended the ceremony.

The contest was co-organized by Ministry of Science and Technology and China Association for Science and Technology.
