Youjiang Nationalities Song and Dance Ensemble of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region

 

 

The Youjiang Nationalities Song and Dance Ensemble of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region (the former Baise Art Troupe) was founded in March 1959. From 1960s to 1970s, the Troupe has presented nearly 20 plays of modern dramas and Chinese of foreign operas as well as a lot of shows of national songs and dances, such as Third-sister Liu, The White-haired Girl, The Guards Under the Neon Light, Street Vendor and Young Lady and Ma Lan Flower. Since 1980s the Troupe has won prizes at all theatrical festivals and competitions of minority music and dance. Among them were Twisting, Going out of Stockade, Da Mo Qiu, Fanatic in Autumn, Dance of Shoulder Pole, Waving, Making Black Face and songs Rain of Southern Frontier in May, Golden Dragon Flying. The Troupe has had exchange of culture with more than 10 countries. In 1986, the Troupe took part in the International Art Festival and the Folk Dance Festivals held by four cites in Cyprus and Turkey, and visited Iraq in passing. In 1995, the Troupe was sent by the Ministry of Culture to join the Canada International Art Festival in Memory of the 50th anniversary of the established of the United Nations. In 1996, the Troupe joined the Sport Art Festival on invitation before Hong Kong's return; in 1999, the Troupe toured in Australia at the invitation of Sino-Australia International Chamber of Commerce where they got welcome and acclaim from foreign friends, overseas Chinese and compatriots of Hong Kong and Macao.

The Troupe possesses 1st grade player Huang Yilan, the 2nd grade player Lin Yanfei, Liu Xinghui, Zhong Ming, Wang Enwen, Huang Ying, Sun Qilong; 2nd grade composers Tan Qingyun, Li Shangkun; 2nd grade performers Nong Yubin, Nong Hengguang and Nong Weiyan.
