| Liaoning Opera House |
The Liaoning Opera House was founded in March 1960, formerly known as the music and dance troupe of the People's Art Theater. Its first director was Li Jiefu.
Since its founded, the House has produced and staged 40 operas including "Beacon-fire in the Steppe", "Arshima", "strength of power", "Lovers" and "Coming Back and Going Away, as well as operettas including "Second handshake", friendship and love", Jasmine and Truth Love. Among them, Lovers won the Liaoning Provincial Government Award for excellent artwork. The theater staged foreign classic operas such as "Peddler and Lady and "The Merry Widow". Its "coming Back and Going Away" won the prize for best performance at the National Opera Festival in 1990 and the Wenhua Award in 1991. In January 1996, it staged the opera "Cangyuan" in Beijing with great success. President Jiang Zemin watched the opera and wrote down his comment in praise of the show. The opera won the grand and all the individual prizes of the 6th Wenhua Award of the Ministry of Culture as well as prizes at the National Opera Festival. The opera has been put on stage in over a dozen cities throughout the country as well as Hong Kong and Macao regions with high acclaim. The theater has toured over 10 countries in Europe and Asia, winning great honor for the Country.
Among those famous artists who have worked in the House are composers An Bo, Liuzhi, Lei Yusheng, Zhang Song, Xu Ke, Yang Guang and Wang Meng; directors San Qing, Hao Ruhui, Liu Bo, Zhao Guirong and Xu Pingshan; conductors Yu Dexin, Liu Shongjun, Li Yinzhong, Shi Jiapeng, Meng Xin and Zhao Deju; playwrights Liu Wanyu, Yang Jiapeng and Song Juan musicians Liu Gang, Pan Lu, Jiang Dayong, Jin Zhe, Li Qing and Jia Jinghuan; singers Zhang Jie, Zhan Xin, Zhong wei, Du Xueyu, Gu Qilan, wang Xiuying, Dan Huizhen, Gong Yunxiang, An Yunfeng, Che Ying and Wang Hui and stage designers Li Mugong, Yang Yuchun, Guo Ruofei and Han Tao.
