Opium War Museum

The Opium War Museum is a specialized museum of Chinese ancient sites. Built in 1985, the museum is located in Humen of Dongguan City in Guangdong Province.

The museum consists of its headquarters, the Administration Department of Shajiao Fortress and the Administration Department of Weiyuan Fortress. It covers a total area of more than 200,000 square meters.

There is a strong atmosphere of history in the environment of the museum. The construction of the museum gate and the exhibition building has the feature of Humen Fortress. The site of Humen Fortress includes emplacements of Shajiao, Weiyuan, Jingyuan, Zhenyuan, Nanshan, Shetou and Jiuzai, and the wall remains of Office of Guangdong Commander-in-chief of the Navy.

The museum features the basic display of Historical Facts of the Opium War, with over 3,000 real objects such as cannons, broadswords, spears, opium smoking sets and captured weapons from the foreign invaders. It is of great value in the study of history and historical relics, as well as in scientific research, education and tourism.
