The Oriental Song and Dance Ensemble (OSDE), founded in 1962,is an artistic Performance institution under the Ministry of Culture.
Duties and tasks: The major duties of OSDE are to introduce Chinese traditional and modern songs and dances to foreign countries, to introduce Asian, African and Latin American music and dances to the Chinese people and to provide performances and train song and dance personnel of higher levels.
Establishment: OSDE includes the Dance Team, Vocal Team, National Features Band, Stage Art Team, Artistic Creation Office, Electronic Band, Director's Office, Management Department and a school of dance for adolescents.
Major achievements: Since 1978, nine dances performed by OSDE have won prizes in national competitions, and nine performers have won prizes in national vocalist and instrumental competitions.
