Liangdaicun Relics, Shaanxi Province, Graveyards for nobles

Period:Zhou Dynasty(About 1100 - 221 BC)
Listed in: 2005
Excavated by: the Shaanxi Province Archeological Research Institute
Archeological team leader: Sun Bingjun

Liangdaicun relics are located in Shaanxi Province, 7 km from the western bank of Yellow River. 103 tombs, 17 pits for chariot pits of Eastern and Western Zhou Dynasties were found in Liangdaicun village within 4 square kilo meters. Four of the tombs found are believed to be those of feudal lords. Archeological research concerning the Shang and Zhou dynasties in Shaanxi Province has focused on searching for sites, and the excavation about tombs of that period was almost blank, so the excavation of high-classed noble cemetery about western and eastern Zhou dynasties in Liangdaicun village provides significant reference for studying the funeral systems and social history from late western Zhou to early eastern Zhou dynasty in Shaanxi and yellow river areas.
