Period: Late Neolithic (circa 3000 BC)
Liste in: 2005
Excavated by: the Guizhou Province Cultural Relics and Archeological Research Institute
Excavation team leader: Zhang Herong

Zhongshui is located at the junction of Xianning County, Guizhou Province and Zhaotong City, Yunnan Pprovince. The excavated area covers about 3,000 square meters and many sacrificial pits, tombs, ash pits, house sites, ditches, pottery, stoneware, bone carvings and jadew are have been found.

Among the relics, the discovery of so many sacrificial pits in Jigongshan site is unprecedented in southwestern part of China, providing important references for researches on the primitive sacrifice activities of the prehistoric tribes in southwest China. The prominent differences in funeral objects, burial customs between Hongyingpan tomb and Yinzitan tomb which are geographical close to each other, provide clues for studying the social classes in the area. The bronze weapons from the two tombs bear the traces of Bashu culture and Dian culture providing new materials for the research of the relationship between Ba, Shu and Dian cultures in different ages.
